SKETCH TO FINISHED PAINTING
Instructor - Randall Scott
Raised in an artistic household in the coastal area of San Diego, and the son of Western artist Steven O Scott, Randall was familiar with the works of well-known artists at an early age. Along with an early start at drawing he was also drawn to the ocean, inspired by documentaries like, “The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau.” Later as Randall’s painting and diving progressed, he was fortunate to meet Stanley Meltzoff, who kindly tutored and fine-tuned Randall’s knowledge of what it takes to portray the underwater world on canvas. Randall, through his highly realistic and compelling images, soon also established himself as a trendsetter in the portrayal of the marine environment. A highlight of Randall’s career was being featured in “Art of the Dive/Portraits of the Deep” produced by David J. Wagner. His work was also featured in the television series "Journeys of an Artist,” Randall guided host Gene Canning through both shipwrecks and sunken aircraft amongst a myriad of reef sharks. His work has graced covers of magazines, marine journals and high school textbooks published by McGraw Hill and the National Geographic Society.
Randall has been teaching fine art classes and workshops specializing in painting and drawing for over 20 years. Many of his students have advanced on to pursue successful, professional careers in art.
