WATERCOLORS
Instructor - Janet Rogers
Janet Rogers has been a working professional artist for overt 40 years and has achieved her Signature Status in The American Watercolor Society, The Transparent Watercolor Society, The Florida Watercolor Society, South Carolina Watercolor Society and others. She has garnered many awards over the years for her sensitive paintings of people which are spontaneous, direct, and expressive. Janet shares easily with others her passion and joy for the fluid and unexpected nature of watercolor.
Workshops and demonstrations are part of her busy schedule - featuring impressions of people and flowers - across the United States, Canada, and in Europe. Four instructional and inspiring DVDs - “Expressive Watercolor Florals”, “Expressive Watercolor Portraits”, “Watercolor Rhythms with Figures”, and “Expressing the Bouquet in Watercolor” are also available.
Janet also has been featured in watercolor painting videos on YouTube, as well as a delightful new interview on YouTube.
WATERCOLORS - FLOWERS TO LANDSCAPE
In this workshop, fresh flowers will inspire each student at the studio right from the start. Janet will lead various fun exercises designed to help you interpret flowers in a loose and expressive manner. You will discover the unique nature of individual flowers and experiment with finding new colors.
Throughout the workshop, Janet will provide demonstrations and individual assistance, emphasizing the importance of letting the watercolor medium guide you to new creative adventures. This "Plein Air" experience, held in the studio, will cover goals such as preserving the white of the paper, avoiding muddy colors, using intuitive color choices, and developing strong compositions.
In addition to individual instruction and class demonstrations, Janet and attendees will enjoy a "Show and Tell" session, where you can share and appreciate each other's work.
The workshop will also include an approach to landscape painting. Students are encouraged to bring some of their favorite photos, and Janet will provide a photo and drawing for a demonstration that students can trace if they wish.
This workshop is suitable for all levels.

This dynamic workshop is designed for participants of all levels to quickly gain confidence in approaching the head and figure in a spontaneous, intuitive, and expressive way.
The class will include demonstrations, instruction, individual assistance, "show and tell" sessions, and a series of enjoyable exercises, all integrated into the painting time. Topics covered will include unique color application, translucent flesh tones, features, the essence of children, and figures. This workshop is beneficial for all skill levels, and special support is available for those new to portrait and figure painting—no fear!
Students can work from their photographs or those provided by Janet. Our goals are to "see" in new ways, bringing life and interpretation to the portrait and figure. Janet will offer drawing tips for beginners in painting people. The focus will be on discovering new colors, seeing light, discerning composition, and understanding values. On the last day, a model may be available to pose for figure paintings.
Everyone will leave this workshop with new confidence in approaching the head and figure.
