Instructor - Chris Kling

Chris Kling earned her BFA in 1979 and since then has been recognized with awards for her landscapes and portraiture in exhibitions throughout the United States. Chris has received hundreds of commissions for oil portraits earning awards through the Portrait Society of America. Both her portraits and landscapes are in numerous private and corporate collections in the United States as well as in international collections. She also has enjoyed participating as an invited artist in Plein Air Events and Competitions for many years. Chris has been grateful to show her paintings in several National Juried Exhibitions with the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. And in 2021 she received the honor of the MartinArts Visual Artist.  Additionally, you can find her teaching workshops in Oil Portraiture, Figurative, and Plein Air. 

 

Chris is a member of the Portrait Society of America, American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, NOAPS, Martin Artisans Guild, and Plein Air Palm Beach. Chris has work in several galleries in Florida and you may see her work on Facebook at Chris Kling Studio and at her website, www.chrisklingartist.com. She is represented by Palm City Art and Frame, Doris Clement Interiors of Stuart, and Sea Spirits and Lost Gallery in St. Augustine, FL.

2 DAY PLEIN AIR IN OILS - APRIL

Capture the beauty and light of the outdoors!  Composition, values, color, edges, and paint manipulation will be taught. Oil paints are preferred, but water mixable oils or acrylic are acceptable. Familiarity with your medium and basic drawing skills are recommended. 

Locations TBA.

 

Each day Chris will give a demonstration and lecture in the morning and then break for lunch 12 – 1 pm (either bring a brown bag lunch or fast food). After lunch, Students work on their own paintings and Chris will constantly circling giving individual instruction. In inclement weather we will move into the NSVA studio.

 

You will learn the unsurpassed benefits of working on location from life and increase your knowledge and skill. Your work will take a leap! This knowledge from working en plein air will give you the ability to make better judgements and give authenticity to your artwork when you choose to paint from a photograph in the studio.
